Firth of Fifth is dedicated to the concept of more is less.  When breeding sheep, the family farm must make best use of time, space and money.  Looking toward all possible combinations of sheep is an ideal goal and crossing types becomes a very large potential for improvement and income.

Each year we choose between our various registered breeds, best ewes and rams and fleece production with a goal toward ideal options for cross-breeding.  We have worked Shetlands across every breed we have ever brought in with outstanding results.

Lincoln, Wensleydale, African Meat Merino, Delaney Merino, Cheviot and Leicester:  Every crossing sire  -merged with the Shetland-  has given us amazing fleeces and quite excellent lambs.  Contact us in the spring of each year to see what we have to offer in our cross program.

The luster, color and outstanding crimp of crossing fleece programs is a journey to excellence for spinning and the mysteries of fiber-craft.
