It would seem that the midwest is experiencing the same shifting weather as the rest of the world. Winter was long and hard and spring only reluctantly appeared. As of mid-May our sheep are still not shorn as few of the Shetlands have yet produced a rise in their fleece.
Fortunately we plan for later lambing than many other breeders and our ewes added further ease in this otherwise daunting spring by completing their work of lambing within three weeks. An amazingly unique experience for us! To add more delight to this wonderful lambing season, our new "Newborn Nursery Paddock" proved to be the best solution for lambing stress. Ewes and their newborns are now isolated in a small, comfortable paddock and shelter for the first couple weeks. Although the llamas and still pregnant ewes are frustrated by the limited access, the division has made the new mothers very happy.

The first lambs venture out to their private paddock and this crowd of admiring stares.
Work on the farm has been the complicated part of this year and our photo sessions very limited. We will add more photos as time and weather allow but for now please join us in our annual:
